Brush Wisdom

Influenced by Zen philosophy, Brush Wisdom is a deeply inspiring and expressive form of meditation using the practice of traditional Japanese brushwork and calligraphy. When writing with a brush, there is no possibility to delete or fix what the ink has traced. Instead, the movement of the brush represents the inner-spirit of the moment in which it has been drawn - it is an outer representation of the interior of the person who realized it.

Developing a deep sense of presence and open relationship to your true self, the brush, ink and paper allow you to access your deeper wisdom in a new and refreshing manner. During this retreat, we will explore the inter-play of mind, body and spirit through the expressive use of the brush stroke in an atmosphere of contemplative calm and peace. When your mind is spacious, clear and calm, your brush wisdom will naturally emerge.

To enhance the power of the brush stroke, this retreat will utilize Qi Gong, breathing and Haiku. No artistic experience is necessary. Each participant will create their final work on a silk brocade to take with them.

This is a multi-date event.
$150 registration by April 12. ($175 after 4/12/17)
