Mindfulness is the continuous practice of being aware and awake to the present moment – to be truly present and at one with those around you and with what you are doing. We invite you to join us for our open meditation sessions – a practice of mindful meditation in the general style of Thich Nhat Hanh. The evening will begin with meditation in 20-minute segments of sitting, walking, and sitting as usual. For the remaining half hour, we will create a meditation using sound as we play a variety of simple musical instruments (chimes, singing bowls) and our own voices. No musical or voice experience is necessary. You may also choose to remain silent in order to enjoy the sounds made by others. You do not need to be experienced in any meditation practice to appreciate and benefit from our open meditation sessions. Beginners are welcome, as well as experienced practitioners.
Free-will offering. Pre-registration requested.
