Thomas Roberts, LCSW, LMFT, has gained widespread recognition in the field of health and healing as an educator, author and speaker who shares practical strategies for enjoying a healthier, happier, more fulfilling everyday life.
A licensed psychotherapist and clinical hypnotherapist with more than 30 years experience, Thomas has worked in a variety of settings from inpatient addiction treatment programs to his present private practice, where he specializes in hypnotherapy and mindfulness therapy with particular emphasis on his unique approach to mind-body healing.
The author of The Mindfulness Workbook: A Beginner’s Guide to Overcoming Fear and Embracing Compassion (New Harbinger Press, 2009), Thomas regularly presents at training sessions, workshops and retreats at local, regional and national levels.
He holds licenses as an Independent Clinical Social Worker and Marriage and Family Therapist, and is certified as a Fellow with the National Board of Clinical Hypnotherapists, a Diplomate with the American Psychotherapy Association and as an Addictions Counselor in the state of Wisconsin.
He is adjunct professor at Viterbo University in La Crosse, Wis., and St. Cloud State University in St. Cloud, Minn., where he teaches students mind-body healing, integrative medicine and a variety of other related topics. He also has an online course through PDR, Mindfulness: The Healing Power of Compassionate Presence, where his online class is ranked as a "best seller."
As a regular presenter at regional and national conferences, Thomas routinely receives high praise and positive responses from those who attend. His dynamic, informative and practical presentations have been shared with audiences at the Grief Therapy Conference, National Institute for the Clinical Application of Behavioral Medicine, American Counselors Association, American Mental Health Counselors Association, American Psychotherapy Association, Wisconsin Association for Marriage and Family Therapy, Idaho Counselor Association, Minnesota Nurses Association, National Wellness Conference and many other conferences and organizations.
Thomas has had numerous articles published in peer-reviewed journals that relate to his approach to healing with mind-body techniques, including articles in the Australian Journal of Clinical Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy, the Annals of the American Psychotherapy Association, and The European Journal of Clinical Hypnosis. He is featured regularly in the La Crosse Tribune and other news media, including Wisconsin Public Radio, Minnesota Public Radio, parenting and regional magazines, and a variety of local television and radio programs in cities throughout the Upper Midwest and other regions around the county.
