We Remember Sister Gabe with Love
Wheaton Franciscan Sister Gabriele (Gabe) Uhlein was called home to God on Monday, August 18, 2025.
We remember Sister Gabe with deep love and gratitude. Gabe founded Wheaton Franciscan Collaborative Ministries, where many of you may have had the opportunity to encounter her warm spirit and deep faith. She continued her involvement with the spirituality ministry contributing to programs at the Tau Center and furthering the mission through her spiritual presence and creative gifts.
Among her myriad offerings, Gabe facilitated a memorable Mandala Making Retreat at the Tau Center in 2013, touching the hearts of many through artistic expression and contemplative guidance.
Gabe continued to be an integral force behind the Tau Center and a cherished collaborator in its mission. She was also an active presenter at the Theosophical Society, where she generously shared her insights and spiritual depth. Her legacy continues to inspire all who knew her.
For the past 15 years, Gabe made her home at the Christine Center, where she lived and ministered with profound devotion and grace. During her time there, she touched countless lives through her joyful spirit, her deep connection to Hildegard of Bingen, and her extraordinary gifts of creativity and presence. As the Christine Center beautifully shared, “Spiritual teachers hold a special place in our hearts," and Gabe was truly one of them.
Gabe's life and legacy are a testament to the beauty of faith, creativity, and compassionate service.
Whatever Gabe accepted as "hers to do,” she brought sparkle and energy. Through her work as a teacher, retreat leader, facilitator, writer, and artist, she guided and inspired. When asked how she wanted to be remembered, she wrote, "As having lived out the promise of my name – 'to bring tidings of great joy.'"
That you did, good and faithful servant.
